The Role

As an AI Research Engineer at Alaris, you'll help design and deploy autonomous agents capable of defending some of the world's most sensitive digital environments.

You'll explore cutting-edge techniques in reinforcement learning, language modeling, and reasoning-capable systems—and apply them directly to high-impact cyber security use cases. You'll build agents that can act, reason, and adapt—without needing human intervention at every turn.

You'll also play a foundational role in shaping our research roadmap and engineering culture as an early member of the AI team.

What You'll Do

• Design and build new AI agents to automate key security operations
• Refine and retrain existing agents to improve precision, recall, and long-term autonomy
• Build performance evaluation pipelines and metrics frameworks for agent benchmarking
• Implement advanced reinforcement learning algorithms to drive decision-making and reduce task-specific specialization
• Track and evaluate emerging AI research with an eye for pragmatic implementation
• Contribute across the software stack as needed—this is a hybrid research-engineering role

What We're Looking For

• Proven research experience—academic, open-source, or startup
• Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch, and TypeScript
• Deep understanding of LLMs, transformers, and generative modelling
• Familiarity with reinforcement learning algorithms (preferred)
• Startup mindset: resourceful, ownership-driven, and excited to work long hours building something that matters
• Bonus: 4+ years of engineering in a production setting
